Melodic Strategies
Most of the notes in the measure or pattern are sung or played in a mostly high pitch set (i.e. high do-la-sol)
Most of the notes in the measure or pattern are sung or played in a mostly Low pitch set (i.e. mi-re-do)
Moving between two notes usually neighbor tones.
Similar to the mostly high and mostly low strategies. Notes are used over and over in succession
Notes move up or down by steps in a logical way that looks like a straight line.
Notes move in one direction but then move in the opposite way in a logical and simple way.
The first half of idea and the second half of the idea are equal.
Good songs always have copies. Copies make songs easier to remember. It's also a good strategy for students who have trouble making up something.
Taking a melodic idea and changing the rhythm to make it more interesting.
